Strategy

Andi Jarvis walks you through the 7 C Model of Marketing Strategy.

09:00 – 10:00

Registration and coffee

10:00 – 11:00

Session 1 – Foundations (Company and Customer)

The foundations of a great marketing strategy are understanding who will buy your product and why they will buy it. Making sure we’re hyper focused on these two questions will ensure everything else we do supports this.

11:00 – 11:30

Break – Coffee, Tea and Pastries Included

11:30 – 12:30

Session 2 – External Focus (Competition and Context)

We focus on how things are done in your industry and who else the customer might consider to solve their problem.

12:30 – 13:30

Lunch

14:05 – 14:30

Session 3 – Internal Focus – Content and Competence

Marketing strategies live or die by the people who implement them, so it’s crucial to look at what skills you have or can access. And then we look at how content helps to support a market strategy.

Capital

The final stage is working out what it’s worth if you get it right, understanding what to invest in marketing and what metrics you need to look at to know you’re on the right track.

We’ll also wrap up by showing how to put a marketing strategy onto one page.

14:30 – 15:00

Break – Coffee, Tea and Pastries Included

15:00 – 16:00

Get Shit Done

The two tracks (Tactics and Strategy) merge for the final session. Rebecca Rowntree, hosting, is joined by trainers Lucinda Everett and Andi Jarvis for a chance to debrief, share insights, and seek answers to any burning questions from the day.

Tactics

Lucinda Everett guides you through a day of copywriting teardowns, analysis and problem-solving.

09:00 – 10:00

Registration and coffee

10:00 – 11:00

Session 1 – Copy Conversations

An ice-breaker that also helps get discussion going and starts to break people out of those echo chambers. We share…

  • best/worst copy you’ve seen lately
  • your copywriting pet peeve
  • your biggest challenge as a copywriter

11:00 – 11:30

Break – Coffee, Tea and Pastries Included

11:30 – 12:30

Session 2 – Copy Teardowns

We look at a few pieces of copy and evaluate what’s going on in the examples:

  • Which copywriting techniques are being used?
  • Why were those tactics selected (how does it relate to the advertiser’s strategy)?
  • Which other tactics might be more effective?

12:30 – 13:30

Lunch

14:05 – 14:30

Session 3 – Brief Encounters

We work through creative briefs in small groups – so that we can gain insights from how others approach their copywriting projects.
