How Creativity Triumphs Over Trauma
Millions of words have been written and said about why intersectionality and difference fuel creativity. This talk is about the how. How does it do it?
As a queer brown muslim immigrant, I’m apparently the Koh-i-Noor of difference. But while writing this talk, I wanted to understand what’s makes difference so precious, and how do we use it? If not me, then who. What makes difference precious is the trauma of experiencing it.
All creative-types have lived through it, whether they have clocked it or not. Let’s talk about how to embrace the trauma of being different, in a culture constantly trying to minimise it, within in an industry constantly trying to fetishise it.
